Shooting Star Tattoos

Last updated on November 30, 2017 By David 2 Comments

Shooting star tattoos are often a symbol of two things: good luck, or the culmination of a long hoped for wish. Stars have long been used in tattoo art, and are still a very popular design. However, shooting star tattoos may be an interesting alternative to its more common sister style, as you can create so many version of this image.

Shooting star tattoos that feature a newly fulfilled desire are usually seen with graphic depictions of the wearers wish. Within the ‘head’ of the star, the object may be formed. This particular style can show many other things as well, such as the image of a serpent, or the misty appearance of a disembodied spirit.shooting star tattoos

Shooting star tattoos, however, generally appear as just that. There are, though, many ways to express this image in your art. An actual shooting star usually has the appearance of a smear of light in the sky; this picture may be too vague for some. Instead of creating a realistic version of a shooting star, you can use a sunburst for the tip, and flames at the tail. You can make an interesting and stylized tail by creating a line of tiny stars following behind the tip. Your shooting star tattoos may also have the appearance of a ‘Catherine Wheel’ firework, or have a head of a nautical star, or Aztec sun.

You can also compose large shooting star tattoos. Using a more realistic depiction (a thicker ‘head’ and a tail that fades out behind it), you can make brilliant zig zag, weaved or even swirling designs. In the center of a swirling design you can place many other symbols; the symbol may be another star, a flower, the face of a loved one, or even your own star sign. You may also depict a scene with this style; for instance, the star floating through a dark night sky, or crashing to earth.

Shooting star tattoos may reflect a deep desire, a wish for stardom, or be used as an emblem for luck. Whatever your reasons for choosing this style, with a bit of creativity you can be certain that these images will always be unique and beautiful.
